The Krugerrand is probably the most sought after gold coin in the world. First struck on 3 July 1967, more the 50 million Krugerrands have been minted, making this coin internationally unequaled in popularity with collectors. These coins rocketed to popularity in the 1970's, after the US government restored the right to own gold on an individual basis.

The South African Mint still produces the Gold Krugerrands in all original sizes and composition. The Krugerrand is also minted in 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins.
